All aluminum
Aluminum trailers have become the trailers of choice for discriminating horse and livestock owners. They are 30-40% lighter than steel trailers and easier to pull (which means improved gas mileage and less wear and tear on the tow vehicle). In addition, the aluminum used by Sooner is pound-for-pound five times stronger than steel. Aluminum is corrosion resistant, so it is far less susceptible to deterioration due to weather conditions. In addition, aluminum trailers look great and continue to look new long after a steel trailer has rusted through. As a result, lenders are more apt to offer longer term financing for aluminum trailers than steel trailers. Some banks may even finance your trailer for 15 years or more, depending on the model. And the distinctly recognizable nose of a sooner trailer is designed with more than just eye appeal in mind. The 5' tapered nose on 7' wide models and 6' tapered nose on 8' models is designed to create less wind resistance and therefore, smoother and more efficient towing.
