Sooner Joins Universal Trailer Corporation


Sooner Trailer Manufacturing Company is pleased to announce that it will become part of the Universal Trailer Corporation team. Universal Trailer was formed in the fall of 2001 with Exiss Aluminum Trailers, Inc. as the first member. Exiss is one of the three largest horse and livestock trailer manufacturers in the industry. Exiss was joined at Universal Trailer by Haulmark Industries, Inc. in the spring of 2002. Haulmark, with its 25 year history, is the largest enclosed cargo trailer manufacturer in the country.

Sooner was founded in 1956 and has been one of the premium brands in the trailer industry for many years. Commenting on the decision, Jim Garis, CEO of Sooner, said: "We are pleased with the opportunity this merger can bring. Joining Sooner with Universal Trailer will rank the combined company as the largest specialty trailer manufacturer in the U.S. Further, Sooner products can now access much broader markets and Universal gains entry into the custom and high end trailer market with a strong brand."

Sooner Trailer Celebrates 30,000th Trailer
Partnership with AQHA Promotes Trailer Giveaway

2003 marks the construction of Sooner Trailer's 30,000th trailer. In celebration of this exciting milestone, Sooner will partner with the American Quarter Horse Association to ultimately give this "one of a kind" 3-horse gooseneck trailer away to the lucky winner of a drawing to be held on "Sooner Night", November 22, 2003, at the 30th annual AQHA World Championship Show.

The Sooner SE Leaves the Competition Behind

The anticipated SE trailer made its debut this month and received a standing ovation. Sooner is proud to introduce this unmatched equine trailer to the marketplace. The SE (Sooner Equine) features a distinctively attractive smooth-sided construction which offers superior strength and stability over unsightly rivets or overlapping panels. Sooner's exclusive Barrier Slat, which has made our stock trailers the most structurally sound trailers on the road, has been made an optional feature of the SE. This high polished triple hollow core slat offers double reinforced strength and a smooth interior for cleaning, but most of all creates a distinctively sleek look.

The SE is standardly available in 2 through 6 horse gooseneck slant load models and up to 10 horse stalls in our custom models. The SE is also available in 2 or 3 horse load bumper pull models. Straight load models feature a rear ramp with traction mat and are available in 2 horse bumper pull models and 2,4 or 6 horse gooseneck models. Roomy standard dressing rooms can be extended to be utilized for a simple or simply luxurious living quarters package. The SE is available in multi-platform widths of 6'11", 7'7" and 8'3".
